Exploring Best Practices and Models of Excellence in Dementia Care
Giles Wilmore will introduce the UK’s first Centre of Excellence for Music and Dementia in Manchester. It aims to provide musical support to 1,000 people with dementia at over 40 locations across the city region within 3 years. The workshop will focus on scalable and sustainable delivery models, training volunteer "music champions," and integrating music into dementia care pathways. The program includes a research partnership with the University of Manchester and the creation of a national learning network. Participants will share insights, explore common interests, and forge international connections in music for health and wellbeing.
Dr. Allison Sekuler’s research explores how aging, context, and experience shape our perception of the world. She investigates visual processing, multisensory integration, and the links between perception, attention, and memory. Her work also examines how technologies like augmented reality and AI can enhance cognitive and perceptual functions in everyday life.
