Joel Plaskett is one of Canada’s most celebrated and enduring songwriters, known for over three decades of fearless creativity and musical reinvention. Hailing from Nova Scotia, Plaskett has built an acclaimed career spanning raw rock and roll, intimate folk recordings, ambitious concept albums, and experimental multi-record projects. Whether performing with his longtime band The Emergency, collaborating with his father Bill Plaskett, or captivating audiences solo, Joel’s work reflects both a deep connection to East Coast musical traditions and a constant drive to explore new sonic territory.

A multiple JUNO and Polaris Music Prize nominee, Plaskett has shared stages with legendary artists including The Tragically Hip and Paul McCartney, while continuing to create and produce music from Fang Recording in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. In 2025, his influence was further celebrated with the release of Songs From The Gang – A Celebration of Joel Plaskett, a tribute album featuring covers by some of Canada’s most respected artists.
